Busitalia - Sita Nord is a company wholly owned by Trenitalia S.p.A. and specialising in road passenger transport.
Busitalia operates directly or through its subsidiaries in Italy (Busitalia Veneto, Busitalia Campania, Busitalia Rail Service, Firenze Citysightseeing) and in the Netherlands through Qbuzz.
Its main line of business is local public transport, which complements and integrates the railway system: in urban centres, it covers the last mile, and in suburban areas, it integrates the railway infrastructure. In the Local Public Transport service sector, Busitalia is characterised by a strong intermodal component, expressed at best in Umbria, where, in addition to road services, Busitalia operates with light rail (Minimetrò), ferries, funiculars and alternative mobility services. Busitalia Veneto operates in Veneto, managing urban and inter-city services in the Padua (buses and trams) and Rovigo (buses) areas, while in Campania, Busitalia Campania is responsible for urban and inter-city bus services in the Province of Salerno.
The subsidiary Qbuzz operates LPT services in the Utrecht, Groningen-Drenthe, DMG (Drechtsteden-Molenlanden-Gorinchem) areas, and, since December 2024, a concession in the Randstad metropolitan area (between Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague) and one in the Fryslan province.
Complementarity with rail transport is also conveyed through the commercial business line, through feeder services, replacement services (scheduled and during emergencies), Freccialink, last-mile services during major events and market services provided by Busitalia Rail Service.
It also provides vehicle maintenance services for third parties through Savit.
Busitalia has 7,200 employees and 3,100 buses (2024 data).
