An alternative way to purchase the € 1.70 TU1 urban ticket: just get on board and TAP your contactless debit/credit card on the device! Get your new invisible and sustainable ticket!
Already available on tram services, this simplified payment method is also available on urban bus services in Padua. Use your credit/debit card to purchase a virtual ticket directly on the bus validation device.
€ 1.70 TU1 - 90-MINUTE TICKET PURCHASE
Place your contactless debit/credit card close to the reader with the green sticker to purchase a TU1 ticket. The TU1 fare applies to any journey (bus and/or tram) departing and arriving within the Municipality of Padua, i.e. the Orange Zone.
ONE CARD | ONE JOURNEY
Each card is valid for one person. If you are travelling in a group, everyone must have their own card, or purchase a ticket through the other systems made available by Busitalia Veneto (points of sale, self-service units, on board, on the app).
ONE TAP PER PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION VEHICLE
If you switch to another bus/tram within 90 minutes of the first validation, remember to TAP again!
If you TAP 3 or more times more than 90 minutes apart on the same days, the system will charge the best fare of € 4.70, corresponding to the cost of a day ticket.
GO CONTACTLESS
ACCEPTED PAYMENT CIRCUITS
To access the CONTACTLESS purchasing mode, you must have a valid contactless debit/credit card (physical or virtual) from one of the circuits currently enabled: Mastercard, Visa and American Express.
TICKET TYPE
In CONTACTLESS mode, the ordinary Padua TU1 urban ticket (Orange Zone), valid for 90 minutes, can be purchased for € 1.70 in digital format (no paper). If you travel outside the Orange Zone (Blue Zone), you need to purchase a TU2 ticket with one of the other purchasing methods available.
WHERE TO BUY A CONTACTLESS TICKET
The CONTACTLESS payment method is active on all trams and buses marked with a special sign on the front door and on the validation device.
HOW TO BUY A TICKET
To purchase a ticket in CONTACTLESS mode, TAP your debit/credit card (physical or virtual) on the payment device and wait for the signal confirming the successful completion of the transaction. The device does not issue a paper receipt.
PURCHASE SUCCESSFUL
If you have completed the purchase successfully, “titolo valido” (valid ticket) will be displayed in green on the validation device’s screen.
PURCHASE UNSUCCESSFUL
If the operation is unsuccessful, you will see the message “titolo non valido” (invalid ticket) in red on the screen.*
ONE CARD PER PERSON
Each payment card is valid for one passenger only. If passengers are travelling in a group, they should all have their own payment card to TAP.
SWITCHING TO ANOTHER BUS OR TRAM
If you switch to another bus/tram within the TU1 fare area, TAP your card again. If you TAP 3 or more times more than 90 minutes apart on the same days, the system will charge the best fare of € 4.70, corresponding to the cost of a day ticket.
VERIFYING YOUR TICKET
To verify your ticket, communicate the last 4 digits of the payment card with which the transaction was made to Busitalia personnel. If you used a virtual card instead, communicate the virtual card number, which may be different from the number of the physical card associated with it.
VIEWING YOUR TAPS
By registering the card used on the portal https://www.mycicero.it/busitaliaveneto-pd/profilazione/it/movements-list/emv, you can view every TAP made on board the buses in real time, and, subsequently, the tickets purchased and their price. Any amount due is charged according to the rules of your credit/debit card circuit.
Contactless validation devices are available on urban tram and bus services. You can only purchase the ordinary Padua urban TU1 ticket (validity 90 minutes, fare € 1.70) for travelling within the Orange Zone in contactless mode. If you want to travel also in the Blue Zone, you need a TU2 ticket, which can be purchased with the other purchase methods available.
*If the operation is unsuccessful, you must promptly obtain a regular ticket to avoid incurring the prescribed penalties. If you have doubts about the successful outcome of the transaction, you can TAP again to check if the green “titolo valido” message appears: no additional ticket will be charged.
Fares effective from 1 June 2023.
For any matter not otherwise specified herein, the rules set out in Busitalia Veneto’s Transport Conditions will apply.
