Fare zones

There are two fare zones for the Conurbation of Padua:

  • the Orange Zone, corresponding to the City of Padua (Municipality of Padua) is indicated by the colour orange on the stops and tickets;
  • the Blue Zone, corresponding to the other municipalities which, together with Padua, comprise the Conurbation (being the Municipalities of Abano Terme, Albignasego, Cadoneghe, Limena, Noventa Padovana, Ponte San Nicolò, Rubano, Saonara, Selvazzano Dentro, Vigodarzere, Vigonza and Villafranca Padovana) are indicated by the colour blue on the stops and tickets.

Fares

The following fares allow access to both Urban and Suburban services, within the corresponding areas of interest (or fare zones).

TU1 Fares
TU1 fares apply to trips on any means of transport (bus and/or tram) within the Orange Zone, being for journeys having an origin and destination within the boundaries of the Municipality of Padua.

TU2 Fares
TU2 fares apply to journeys within the Conurbation of Padua, being between the two fare zones of the Orange Zone and Blue Zone, as well as for travelling only within the Blue Zone.

Suburban Fares
Suburban fares are broken down by kilometre ranges and apply to journeys on the Suburban Network outside the Padua Conurbation and to journeys on the Suburban Network having an origin or destination within the Padua Conurbation (such as journeys departing from or arriving in the Orange Zone or in the Blue Zone).

Tickets and validity

  • Ticket on board (TU1, TU2, SUB)
    Valid for a single journey, this ticket is sold by the driver only when the safety and legal conditions are met. The fare varies according to the zone and kilometre range, consisting of one or more tickets up to the established fare.
  • Family Ticket (TU1, TU2)
    There are two different Family Tickets: the TU1 Family Ticket and TU2 Family Ticket.
  • Day Ticket (TU1, TU2)
    The Day Ticket is also available in 2 versions, based on the corresponding TU1 or TU2 fare.
  • Argento ticket (TU1, TU2)
    This covers any journey within the area of reference from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm on the day of validation and is reserved for holders of an OVER 65 CARD.
  • Argento day ticket for residents of the PD municipality (TU1)
    Valid for residents of the Municipality of Padua who are holders of the Over 65 Card. This fare covers any journey within the Arancio Zone, on all Busitalia Veneto lines, including urban and suburban services, on the day of ticket validation.
  • Argento day ticket for residents of the Azzurra Zone (TU2)
    Valid for residents of the Municipalities within the Azzurra Zone who are holders of the Over 65 Card, this ticket covers any journey within the Azzurra Zone, on all Busitalia Veneto lines, both urban and suburban, on the day of ticket validation.
  • Weekly passes (TU1, TU2, SUB)
    These are valid for 7 consecutive days from the date of initial validity.
  • Monthly passes (TU1, TU2, SUB)
    These are valid for 1 month starting from the date of first use. For example, if the pass is first used on 23 October 2021, the date of expiry is 22 November 2021.
  • Quarterly passes (TU1, TU2, SUB)
    These are valid for 3 consecutive months from the date of first use. For example, if the pass is first used on 16 September 2021, the date of expiry is 15 December 2021.
  • Quarterly travel passes (SUB)
    Allows travel on the desired route for 3 consecutive months from the starting day, excluding Sundays for students and workers.
  • Annual Ordinary and Worker passes (TU1, TU2, SUB)
    These are valid for 365 consecutive days (366 days in leap years) from the date of first use. For example, if the pass is first used on 20 September 2021, the date of expiry is 19 September 2022.
  • 2nd child annual student pass (TU1, TU2, SUB)
    Families with more than one child holding an annual student pass are granted a 15% discount for the second and subsequent passes. The discount applies to the pass with the lowest cost.

Special cases

  • Travel passes with the TU2 tariff can be utilised for journeys made on the E003B Line (Legnaro Agripolis) with an origin or destination within the Agripolis university campus. For the issue and verification of this type of pass, the interested parties must demonstrate that they are enrolled in or work at the University Institute of Legnaro (PD). Only the suburban fare is applied for the tickets.
  • The segmented tariff system based on Colli lines has been superseded by a new system: the TU2 fare now applies to Abano Terme – Padua journeys whilst the terms of the Suburban Network apply to the remaining connections.
  • Transfers to/from Padua and the Municipalities of Montegrotto Terme and Torreglia can be effectuated with Class 3 Suburban tickets and one free trip under a TU1 or TU2 fare, functionally connected with suburban travel.
  • Tickets for lines with Venice Airport or Jesolo as the origin/destination have a special fare.
  • Students in possession of a Suburban pass (excluding weekly tickets) can take a trip within the Orange Zone operating to/from the Padua Bus Station and the Schools by paying a supplement for the monthly or annual pass.
  • For trips that require a suburban journey and travel within the Conurbation, two tickets are required. Residents of municipalities participating in the initiative can purchase a discounted Urban + Suburban integrated pass at a fare equal to the sum of the Suburban pass and 50% of the Urban pass (TU1 or TU2, based on the option requested and that required by the Municipality of residence). The fare zones are valid from 13th September 2021.
